MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a Leading Lifestyle brand in search of a Head of Apparel Design. This is a permanent role based in London.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to shape the direction of the apparel collection and contribute to the brand’s success in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of all apparel collections, from concept to final product, ensuring a cohesive and innovative aesthetic.
  • Collaborate closely with the Creative Director to define seasonal themes, colour palettes, and key silhouettes.
  • Conduct thorough market research to stay ahead of industry trends and identify opportunities for new product categories and designs.
  • Oversee the entire design process, including sketching, fabric selection, prototyping, and fittings, ensuring the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship.
  • Manage and mentor a team of designers, fostering a collaborative and inspiring work environment.
  • Work with the merchandising and production teams to ensure designs are commercially viable and align with business goals.
  • Present design concepts and collections to internal stakeholders and contribute to marketing and sales strategies.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to source the best materials and ensure timely delivery of products.
  • Drive innovation and sustainability initiatives within the design process, aligning with the brand’s commitment to responsible fashion.

What are we looking for?

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in fashion design, with a focus on apparel.
  • Proven track record of leading successful design teams and delivering commercially successful collections.
  • Strong creative vision and ability to translate trends into marketable products.
  • Excellent technical skills, including proficiency in design software and an understanding of garment construction.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Passion for sustainability and innovation in fashion.
