Import Merchandiser

Are you experienced in supply chain merchandising within fashion?
Do you have a history of working with supplier factories based in Asia?
Are you skilled in maintaining the critical path from sampling to shipping?

MacGregor Black are partnering with a fast growing, independent UK fashion brand in the search for an Import Merchandiser. This is a permanent role based in Manchester.

What you will be doing…

  • Establish and onboard new suppliers, fostering successful partnerships and effectively managing supplier relationships.
  • Collaborate with the Design team to understand product requirements and work with the production team to allocate these to the appropriate factory, considering manufacturing capability, price negotiations, and target pricing.
  • Maintain the critical path, ensuring deadlines for samples, fabric, fit approvals, and deliveries are met.
  • Manage factory schedules to ensure production timelines are adhered to.
  • Coordinate with the warehouse to ensure all stock undergoes QC checks and communicate any issues to suppliers.
  • Liaise with relevant departments to ensure timely arrival and processing of goods and inform them of key delivery dates.
  • Raise Purchase Orders as needed.
  • Work closely with the Product and Design Team, including Quality, Garment Tech, and Merchandising.
  • Conduct monthly reviews of all off-shore suppliers, analyzing their strengths, weaknesses, and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with off-shore suppliers to ensure they meet delivery schedules, quality standards, and margin expectations.
  • Ensure timely range launches by monitoring critical path dates for both the brand and clients.
  • Proactively monitor sales and stock levels to optimize sales, margins, and select the most cost-effective freight routes for the brand.
  • Manage daily intake and coordinate with the supply chain on shipping methods.
  • Identify new product opportunities to support business growth and expansion.

Who are we looking for?

  • Over 4 years of experience at Merchandiser level, ideally within the fashion or eCommerce industry.
  • Experience in a Wholesale Operation is advantageous.
  • Experience liaising with factories in Asia, such as China and India.
  • Experience in Stakeholder Management at all levels.
  • Naturally confident with strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Word, and email applications.
  • Organized, eager to learn, and progress within the industry.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
  • Confident, assertive, and proactive, with the ability to build rapport and communicate effectively with people at all levels.
  • Strong decision-making and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize workload and a target-driven mindset.
  • Independent yet enjoys working in a team, with a flexible approach to work.
  • Determined to go the extra mile to achieve results.
