Senior Designer

MacGregor Black is currently partnering with a dynamic fashion brand in search of both Mid-weight and Senior Designers. These roles offer exciting opportunities to shape the direction of collections and contribute to success in the industry.

 

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research and development process, compiling research findings and creating mood boards to guide direction, colour schemes, shapes, and current/upcoming trends.
  • Identify new opportunities for brands within the group, staying abreast of market trends and consumer preferences.
  • Design and create CADs (Computer-Aided Designs) in line with the brand’s identity and aesthetic.
  • Prepare detailed technical packs and ensure updates throughout the development process.
  • Lead fittings, providing guidance and expertise, and updating technical sketches as necessary.
  • Collaborate closely with the Head of Design to set and meet all key deadlines effectively.
  • Develop comprehensive colour palettes for seasonal collections and ensure overviews of collections are up to date.
  • Oversee the approval process for lab dips, trims, materials, and prints for finalised products.
  • Demonstrate expertise in multi-product design, spanning categories including denim, jersey, woven, and outerwear.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Education in Design (BA, BFA, BS).
  • Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.
  • Over 5 years of experience within a similar environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive under pressure.
  • Proactive, helpful, and a team player within the brand group.
  • Keen interest in fashion, textiles, and contemporary menswear.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with confidence in dealing with external clients.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Portfolio demonstrating extensive experience working in various product categories.
  • Expert understanding of garment construction and fit.
